Which bumper to choose? How to prepare the crib?Useful tipsThe safety of the little ones in the house is undoubtedly fundamental: for their health in the first place and, let's face it, for the parents' peaceful sleep in the second! The crib with side rails is perfect for babies to sleep in, but it must be protected in a consonant way to prevent the baby from hurting himself by bumping into it.So let's see together how to put the bumper in the crib ensuring proper safety for the infant.
Which bumper to choose?
A quality bumper has a necessary thickness to protect the baby, and we personally recommend choosing one about 3-4 cm thick.
It should also be made of materials that are not harmful to either health or the environment. It is also important to pay attention to the choice of width, which should be plenty enough to cover the areas closest to the baby.
Caleffi uses only Eco Color certified dyes that are non-toxic for both health and the environment: in fact, these dyes respect the normal acidity of the baby's skin and are free of harmful substances.
SOFY® filling comes from the careful selection of the purest polyester fibers and guarantees ideal warmth, maximum comfort and great quality that remains unchanged over time.
Safety passes above all in the materials used, which, in addition to complying with current regulations, must guarantee excellent quality over time, even after different washings.
The hypoallergenic polyester fiber used for the filling of Caleffi bumpers originates from the selection of the purest fibers, while the cotton covers must ensure proper breathability.
Choose a bumper that has drawstrings on all sides: they will allow you to simply place it on the side rails and maintain proper stability during the night: both adults and children will be able to sleep sound dreams.
How to prepare the crib?
First, cover the mattress with a waterproof mattress cover. It is essential to protect it from liquids and avoid having to buy a new one right away. For example, the Dormiasciutto model is also available in a baby version and will allow you to properly dress the mattress.
As for a complete set of sheets with which to cover the crib, you should prefer 100% cotton fabrics that do not irritate the skin. In addition, this fabric will ensure proper breathability, proving perfect even for the most sensitive or allergic skin.If it is winter, you will have to opt for a heavier quilt, while for intermediate seasons a bedspread will suffice. Remember that infants have a higher relative sensitivity to heat than you do: they feel 1-2 degrees more than adults.
Now that the bed is prepared you can place the bumper. In the case of a three-part model you will have to put it on the short side, behind where the head will be, and on the two longest side sides; if, on the other hand, the bumper you bought consists of 4 sections, you can cover all sides of the bed.
Adhere the bumper to the lowest part of the side rails, i.e., lay it against the mattress, and now fasten the ties so that it does not move during the night.
Helpful hints
The bumper has the function of protecting your baby from bumping into the bed rails during the night, since babies are constantly moving around and risk bumping into wood and getting bruises or scratches.
You can find plain or patterned bumpers on the market to coordinate with bedspreads and quilts.
If you are handy with a sewing machine you can even build a do-it-yourself bumper!
